LIV-Lanseria Playground Clean-Up
Grass, goggas, snakes… and a whole lot of heart!
We were asked by LIV-Lanseria to help make the school playground safe again after the December floods. When we arrived, the grass was over a foot high, and the field still hid a few unwelcome surprises—think debris, goggas, and even the odd snake. Challenge accepted!
Tools, Teamwork & A Touch of Community Magic
Huge shout-out to our amazing neighbours:
- The Barn Church for lending us their bush cutter and six trusty panga’s.
- Harties Harbour for their bush cutter and a lawnmower that worked like a champ.
Safety First: Fencing the Flood-Damaged Area
The floods didn’t just overgrow the grass— they also damaged the pump room (not pictured), septic tank, and toilets. To keep up to 400 children safe, we decided to fence off the area with 150m of fencing and a proper farm gate. It’s the simplest, fastest way to prevent injuries while repairs are planned.
Today’s Mission: Clear the Grass!
While the old men bravely swung a panga or two, they soon found their true calling: keeping the crew fed and hydrated! The team worked tirelessly and cleared roughly a soccer field of grass. The kids can now run, play, and laugh safely again.
A massive round of applause to everyone who sponsored their money, their equipment, and their skills. Your generosity turned a flooded field into a safe space for children to be children.
Drop us a message and we’ll connect you with the team.
P.S. Snakes and goggas have been politely asked to relocate. The playground is open for smiles again. 🐍🚫🌱
